A) General Introduction of Changzhou lying on the northern side of the Yangtze River and eastern side of Taihu Lalce, Changzhou is located in China's most economically developed Yangtze River Delta, an area of 4373 square lcilometei-s, the resident population of over 5 million. l. Long history and blended culture: Changzhou has a written history sternming from 2500 years ago, which is the biithplace of Chinese culture, "Wu" culture. It emphasis on education, and is the hornetown of Chinese sage Confucius Master Za Ji. Master Ji was one of the most famous sages of the world. Since modern times, many pioneers from different fields in China came from this city. For example, the first joint-equity enterprise, the first modern university, first bank, Supervisor of first t-ailway-Huaixuan Sheng, the father of modern Chinese mathematics Luogeng Hua, Chinese modern theater and film arts founder Shen Hong, etc. The area served as Chinese Academy of scientific and cultural Engineering, ranked fourth in the country. 2. Unique location and Advanced distinct: Changzhou is just over a hundred kilometers away fi-om Shanghai, NanJing and HangZhou. Transportation through the city is made up of airports, railways, highways, ports, and i-iver routes. Changzhou is one of the best cities for investment. It is also one of the most harmonious and sustainable cities in China. I According to Forbes 2015, Changzhou is i-anlced the l Oth most innovative city in mainland China, 12th the best coinmercial city, and No. 1 on the vitality of private econolnic in Jiangsu Province. In addition, Changzhou is 4th in the national top ten livable cities, and won the titles of `National Garden City' and `National Ecological City' in the same year. 3. Leading industrial development and higher education: Changzhou has been recognized for its old Four Pillcr�� Indust��ies: intelligent equipinent, new energy and new materials, bio-medicine and inedical equipment, and other characteristics of the modern textile and garment manufactul-ing. In recent decades, the city has newly added more industrial sectors to its economy, including high-tech, electi-onic, bio-inedical, and chemical productions. For instance, the core systein of the world's fastest high-speed railway gear transmission (the HSR), and the world's genuine acoustic eleinents used in more than one-third rnobile phones worldwide, both are manufactured in Changzhou. Apart from this, Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND) — a state-level high- tech industrial development zone — is located in the northern part of Changzhou and 60 Fortune 500 companies gathered here. Meanwhile, Changzhou has the countiy's leading fundamental education, well developed vocational education, as well as 210 national, provincial science and technology innovation platfolm developed by the end of 2014. B) The benefits of establishment of friendship city: Changzhou, with well-established foreign exchange platforrns, such as The Institute of Chinese studies of Technische Universiteit Delft, Holland; Feilaoen Hof Research Institute in Germany to cany out the "Visiting Scientist Coopei-ation Program"; added 21 International Understanding Education Pilot Schools and 9 International Friendship Schools in 2014. Changzhou has extensive experience in foreign exchange. Changzhou received more than 40 batches of more than 500 people fi-om Gao Zhan American Education Research Foundation, South Austi�alia Education, Ministry of Education and other foreign countries. Also Changzhou hosted the China Intetnational Education Exchange Association CEAIE-AFS project which involves with overseas training, tiaining in China, and selection camps and other activities. Have a strong dernand foi- foreign exchange, the city has 509 priinaiy and secondaly students to pa�-ticipate in overseas field trips, employed 275 foreign teachers. Therefore, the friendship city cooperation will inevitably bring more cultural exchanges. For example, the exchange of Chinese culture was organized in 2014 in Changzhou, the Chinese Bridge-Chinese wind Yun Long Middle School Summer Camp; UK overseas Chinese youth winter camp. The cooperation can be provided for students in Cupertino broader understanding of China, learning Chinese culture. C) Cupertino-Changzhou Friendship City Promotion Cominitee (CCFPC) The CCFPC was founded in 2016 as a non-profit organization. With a group of people from Changzhou who have enthusiasm and passion. CCFPC will do our utmost effort to promote cultural exchanges between our two cities and to build a strong coinmunication bridge between Cupertino and Changzhou. Furthermore, The CCFPC is a self-funded non-profit organization supported by colnpanies and organizations from both cities. It will be the lead of hosting cultural events and activities, inviting Cupertino citizens to get to know about the unique and amazing culture from Changzhou. Lastly, The CCFPC is committed to building a strong bond between Cupertino and Changzhou. It will support the development and construction of the two cities, complying with and supporting the relevant policies of both cities at the same time. Thank you for your time!
