Exhibit CC 09-06-2016 Item No. 26 Written Communication Regarding Sister City PolicyLauren Sapudar From: Sent: To: Subject: Toni Oasay-Anderson Tuesday, September 06, 2016 10:36 AM City Clerk FW: Sister City Policy From: helene@crewdavis.com [mailto :helene@crewdavis .com] Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2016 10:29 AM To: City Council <CityCouncil@cupertino .org> Cc: David Brandt <Davidb@cupertino.org> Subject: Sister City Policy Dear City Council members, I am writing in regards to the Cupertino Sister City Policy that will be coming before council this evening for review. I would like to lobby for potential scaling of the section that refers to number of students required for a student exchange. Even though the Cupertino Copertino sister city relationship is the oldest for Cupertino, we had our very first student exchange just this year. Going forward, we anticipate having an exchange every year. Copertino, Italy, is about half the population size (or less) of Cupertino, with only one middle school. We anticipate that four to six students is about all Copertino can handle at present. I would like to propose a sliding scale of some kind, for example: a sister city organization sending 4 to 6 students would receive half the funding from the city that an exchange of 10 or more students receives. Something to that effect. I plan on being at the meeting this evening and will make this request in person. Thank you to city council and staff for your support of all our sister cities. We could not fulfill our mission of promoting friendship and international understanding without your help. Best regards, Helene Davis President Cupertino Copertino Sister Cities Association
